Park Township

Park Township has partnered with Blue Sky Sessions on their website for over 6 years. They decided that it was time to update when we presented analytical data showing a sizable upswing in mobile traffic to the site.

Updating a government website is not a task to be taken lightly. A lot of people depend on the content it holds, and as creatures of habit, they expect it to be in the same place every time. Knowing this, we tried to leave most of the content in the same locations as before, but we also wanted to make some things easier to find than they had been previously.

One thing we did to accomplish this goal was to implement a trend that we’ve noticed on other township and city websites, a section called, “How Do I…?” which gives users quick access to frequently visited sections. For example, a user could go to the “How Do I…?” tab, click “Obtain…” and get a list of links for license and permit request forms.

Another new method for users to find information quickly is a series of six icons on the homepage, each with a heading, short description, and link to one of the top five most frequently visited pages on the site, plus our new “How Do I…?” section.

A secondary goal for the redesign was to make it more visually appealing with more white space and bigger photos of the lovely scenery in Park Township. We accomplished this by using a modern and simplistic theme with a full width slider and header images. The slider shows iconic photographs of Park Township sites along with some short factoids about the area.

As with every new site we build, Park Township’s new website is fully responsive, meaning that the content on the page rearranges itself to fit the width of the screen upon which its being viewed without changing the size of the text.
