Starting a new website can feel daunting and overwhelming, but working with Blue Sky Sessions made every step easy. They took the time to get to know our company and designed a farmer-friendly website that we receive compliments on daily!

We just never know what kind of unique businesses are going to reach out to us for web help. Before we met the folks at Townline, we had no idea that it was possible to have baby chickens shipped to your doorstep. Now we know all about the process and we want everyone else to know too!
Townline Poultry Farm is a 3rd generation family business that has been around since before World War I. In recent years, backyard chicken raising has gained huge momentum so Townline rose to the occasion by adding new chicken coops, raising breeder flocks to control the quality of their chickens, and planting their own corn crops to ensure their livestock eats quality food.
In order to help meet the demand of their growing customer base without having to hire more sales staff, Townline hired us to build an e-commerce site. If you visit the site, you’ll see that there are many different categories and subcategories of poultry available for purchase, and then you can choose between male and female. On top of all those variations, Townline also has a complex pricing structure with quantity discounts specific to the type of bird selected as well as product add-ons for certain birds. Most developers would view these roadblocks as a reason to build a custom framework which would take a lot of time and therefore cost a lot of money.
In consideration of our client’s limited budget, we looked for creative ways to get around the custom system route. You can learn more about the solution we came up with by reading our blog post, Selling Chickens Online with WooCommerce. Simply launching an online store does not in and of itself mean that orders are going to start ramping up. Potential customers first need to find your site and then they need to like what they find enough to make a purchase, and then like their experience enough to tell their friends!
To help eager chicken-raisers find Townline’s site, we structured their content in a way that would allow search engines to understand the purpose and offerings of the business. The sheer volume of content the farm was able to develop describing the different types of breeds, the steps that should be taken when caring for chicks, and the process of purchasing chickens goes a long way in garnering search engine traffic.
Townline’s now sleek, clean, and well-organized site gives potential customers confidence that they are about to do business with a professional organization that has a thorough understanding of their business and a deep passion for their product. All of the things we did together seemed to have worked because Townline saw a complete return on their website investment within the first month after launch and saw a 100% increase in sales over the previous year.
